Image: The Male Yellow Crab (here)
(a threatened species is both a scavenger and a predator
eating anything that the large claws can crush)
MLMM's Wordle given words:
bastard glimpse rubble trickle bonfires wallow bulge tenacious
liminal (relating to a transitional or initial stage of a process)
supplicant (a petitioner, a beggar, a pupil)
circumspect (cautious, prudent)
pique (to affect with sharp irritation and resentment)
The bastard of the male species
is both a scavenger and a predator
A glimpse from out of the rubble may
not show a threatened species though
But instead it is one out to conquer and dominate
It perhaps starts as liminal as a newborn babe
A trickle in its desire but open to bonfires of fiery
affections upon clutching an elegant female
Not supplicant by nature nor to wallow
in frustrations but with a bulge of pockets
of greenbacks thrown generously for all to see
The elegant conquest circumspect in her response
piqued at being treated as an object but is expected
to go along as both are game for some fun
That is how it all starts in a loving relationship
tenacious in intensity if they both click and remain
sincere with good intentions
Or alternatively they may both part company
not without stormy drama in some cases happy in
knowing that it was good when it lasted
For Yves's hosting at MLMM's Wordle #72 and
Marian's at Real Toads' Tuesday Platform
That is a hella of an opening line lol
ReplyDeleteI love how unexpected your responses are Hank. Great job!

I love that crab, and the ode to his sassy personality is perfect! Of course there is another meaning as well, but I believe the crab would like to think it is all about him.

I like the way this works on more than one level. The use random words makes it feel like a spell!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed this piece immensely. I have never seen a crab, face to face, I think I might be very cautious.
ReplyDeleteHah, good while it lasted. Another day will bring a new conquest. :)
ReplyDeleteVery good use of the words - love the metaphor you chose - I love that ending also.
ReplyDeleteThis one just popped up, weird. Scavenger and predator is quite the combo
