The Yeats' Octave
An 8 line stanza with eight syllables on each line
and a rhyme scheme of:   a b b a c d d c.

a              with a sultry smile bewitching
b             mystifying to onlookers
b             as deep ocean blue registers
a              with a twitch at the mouth musing
c              and questions asked of da Vinci
d             wife of a high ranking person
 d            or plump beauty of innocence
c              was it Lisa Gherardini?

  9. What an intriguing question asked of a classic painting which has captured people's attention and imagination for centuries. Your octave is very well structured, with a wonderful choice of rhyming words. I prefer rhymes which are not quite full because they allow the poem to flow quite naturally. I enjoyed your poem very much, Hank.
