Can one be faulted?

Image: It gets rusty and remains a constant threat (here)

Can one be faulted
For assuming everything's fine
When strangers are carting away
furniture from the neighbor's
who are away on vacation?

Can one be faulted
To be hard on the daughter-in-law
struggling to whip up a dish
in the kitchen while sneering
gleefully not offering assistance?

Can one be faulted
For believing in oneself
To strive forward but
knock on others
along the way?

Can one be faulted
Ditching him only after the
first date for a fast-food dinner
knowing fully well the treat
is from his first pay packet?

Can one be faulted
for speeding in the new car
knocking over an old cyclist
and leaving the scene not bothering
he is dead or alive

Can one be faulted for all these
common faults?

  1. There is fault somewhere, especially with the last one. Assumptions can get you in trouble too

  2. yes, we can be...and should be held accountable for our faults...
while we are human, and make mistakes our actions have remifications.

  3. Wowza, this poem packs a punch. Everything thing we say and do has consequences, whether we accept that or not.

    1. Murmured memories withstand.

Memories linger on incessantly in the background. One likes the good ones while others are an abhorrence. The images however are being kept alive all the while. The repetitions make them perfect. Great write MW

  4. Yes, yes, & yes, damn rights; too many blind-eyed, selfish, arrogant, self-centered assholes everywhere already; take them to task for sure; like the use of your repetition; thanks.

  5. I second Glenn! Sadly common sense, responsibility and basic human decency are not as fairly shared between people as one might hope.

  6. We can't close our eys to the world and assume that all is well, as an individual we have a duty towards our society.

  7. We all have our faults Hank but to be to self centered as to hurt others I think is too much ~ One day karma will get back to us one way or another ~ Great use of repetition ~

  8. Yes indeed - all of those people can be faulted indeed. Right is right, wrong is wrong.

  9. I think we ought to be responsible beings though we all have faults....nicely done Hank

  10. Yes we can be faulted for these, for we should never be so focused on our own wants and needs that we are oblivious to the plight of those around us...

  11. Yes, one can, as those are shallow reasons for being an inconsiderate human being.

  12. Can anyone not be faulted for what is happening in the war zones of the Middle East? It does seem to be a free-for-all world

  13. Oy! Your examples hit home, reminding us to be careful of our speech and actions. Good one, Hank!

  14. There is fault in each of these situations, Hank ... principally the major fault that lies in human nature. Nice use of a questioning refrain.

  15. faults are there in every one but one who takes responsibility for his actions will be free from guilt..:)

  16. Indeed, the growing lack of human empathy is a sad, sad situation. And sadder, still, it is becoming the norm and is accepted as the way of things. You've chosen an unusual way to highlight this - and it is very effective.

  17. Ooh, nasty stuff! Well said, and excellent use of repetition.

  18. It's like you put the word net out and caught yourself an artist's dream of sharp colored glass...beautiful - even as you realize that incredible combination you caught has the potential to cut to the quick when you catch some bit of self-reflection waving back!

  19. Lots to think about Hank but we are responsible, our faults are faults when we recognise them as such. There are many out there who don't see their faults. I liked this one.
