Note: Been on the road and behind in answering comments. Will come back shortly. Apologies!
It hurt him bad
She felt it too
Not a big spat
But what could she do
Her mother was too harsh
She felt it also
Was mean for her to ask
Her hubby to just 'go'
What was it with her mom
Against him she couldn't fathom
He thought she should not be alone
To visit her mother's home
But her mom had the heart to decide
To ask them to smoke outside!
She had just been a week as his bride
She too sacrificed to be by his side

sacrifice is an integral part of love....glad they are together
ReplyDeleteWhy must we always sacrifice for the sake of love?
ReplyDeleteIt so happens it's the lady this time, Charleen! Men do sacrifice just as well. Yes, it's love that decides!
DeleteHank
I could feel it, too. New to your blog. Look forward to reading more.
ReplyDeleteThanks La Tonya! Feel free to come anytime!

i agree...in love sacrifices happen, sometimes you give, sometimes you take a bit, as it is not always about you...travel well hank...
ReplyDeleteThanks Brian, Hit and run where I can!

Hmm that definitely is sometimes the case, love takes time of its own but when it has takn its root it can hardly be shaken!
ReplyDeleteVery well written!
Happy travel time!
Smoking outside! I had to laugh. My Mom waited until she was 70 and had developed a week heart before telling Dad to smoke outdoors. It took him a while--"It's my home!" But he did. Now, after 66 years of marriage he's a bit tamer. Very fine poem.
ReplyDeletehaha kick out to smoke, true enough there is sacrifice in love on both sides, or it will never work.
ReplyDeleteMoved me, beautiful display of the heart :)
ReplyDeleteLove won't work without some sacrifice. Interesting that they went outside for a fag and ended up next door to a No Smoking sign.
ReplyDeleteI really did not know what to expect from this tale.. smoking outside took me by surprise at the end.
ReplyDeleteI never had the heart to tell my Mom to go outside. Good one Hank!
ReplyDeleteSpat? Yeah - that seems likely, judging by the looks on their faces...
ReplyDelete... and just in time for Mother's Day! Be safe out there on the road, Hank.
ReplyDeleteThat pic fits the poem or vice versa just perfectly. The trials and tribulations of making it work and sacrifice is just a Chapter one. Great write.
ReplyDeleteYes, that's where I'd have to draw the line, too...smoking indoors is just awful. Fine telling of this tale, Hank!
ReplyDeleteHappy to read you again, Hank! You sure entertained me with this one.
