Life's tragedy of a sad reminder sadly
Wherein the aim staying at its prime
With expectations of rehabilitation
Patiently waiting, they came and went
All of them, they had all gone
They took all one by one
The furniture, furnishings, everything
In the name of development and progress
Except the red chair no less
Made to wait to know its fate
For what reasons no one knows
perhaps,
The upholsterer would have got it freed
or,
The wrecking crew, a casualty of the developer's greed

How sad Hank to be stripped and left all alone
ReplyDeletein the name of greed and progress ~ That red chair is a good metaphor for mother nature at the rate we are poisoning our planet ~
:)
ReplyDeleteIf no one wants the chair, can I please have it, original upholstery et al.
the upholsterer or the wrecking crew....ugh on the progress....sometimes it is great but we have to think of what we have lost as well...its often only later that we do....good to see you friend...
ReplyDeleteNice tension, heightening of emotion.
ReplyDeleteIt's sad to be the lone survivor !!!
ReplyDeleteDarn those wrecking crews! A great sense of emotion going higher and higher. Nice read!
ReplyDeleteFresh, creative and well-written - thanks.
ReplyDeleteSuch a twist of fate. Well done, Sir Hank!
ReplyDelete... and it had such great bones!!!!
ReplyDeleteGreed can do many a thing and completely destroy ones wing.
ReplyDeleteSad to be the lone survivor.
ReplyDeleteanother sad one.....but very good and thanks for sharing this
ReplyDeleteI agree with Pat, gree can do many a thing indeed. What a wonderful piece!!
ReplyDeleteThe red chair makes quite a statement...left alone...
ReplyDeleteI felt the sadness of the fate awaiting the poor chair, Hank. Value of artifacts are often ignored under the wreckers ball. Thank you for the reminder to have a second look at our trash.
ReplyDeleteThis touched my heart b/c along with all of that are the memories... at least they'll stay.
ReplyDeleteBeautifully done. Those developers are wrongly named.
ReplyDeleteExcellent take. You gave this chair a fine story. Even if its fate is bleak, it's memory will be preserved
ReplyDeleteThere's always a wrecking crew. Nicely done.
