Great in the open with good cloud cover
The horizon seems unblemished but inviting
Sleepy young rehearsing their acts of hunger
The brood is waiting and expecting anything
Mother bird exercising acts of responsibility
Exemplary host as mothers do really care
A measure of love in earnest and sincerity
Distributing ensuring all have a fair share
All are aware she is back home with tidbits
Each very much wanting a piece of the fun
A scramble favours the stronger to benefit
Mother ensures fairness for weaker ones
There is that lone voice of moderation
Always there when we needed them
Mother ensures fairness for weaker ones
There is that lone voice of moderation
Always there when we needed them
Mothers to the rescue in all instances
A patron saint of a great invention

After reading the poem my mother's memories surface within me now. Thank you Hank for the beautiful poem. God serves us in mothers' forms----no doubt.

ReplyDeleteDefinitely a good mother. Good poem.
I love the thought of a horizon ‘unblemished but inviting’, Hank, if only I could fly! I also love the way you portray mothers in this poem.
ReplyDeleteA wonderful tribute to mothers, bird, animal and human. Mother birds exhaust themselves going back and forth from the nest to feed their chicks. And food is hard to find. I so enjoyed this poem, Hank.
ReplyDeleteGreat poem Yes also among birds "Mothers to the rescue in all instances "
ReplyDeleteThe journey of a mother written so poetically
