siblings faithfully all in single file

Image: Highly tutored to reduce frictions (here)

siblings faithfully all in a single file
mother's insistence to be six in a row
seemed inclined to test the waters
but rooted along their narrow domains

not moving neither were they spent
breaking rules were strictly not tolerated
tattered in thoughts a swan's dilemma
no sibling rivalry overtaking to snatch victory
nor throw a sly spin to make one to retreat

A curved passage could offer alternatives
but caught in the middle of a problem
avoiding any nerve-wracking intrusion
freedom to choose was no free holiday

  1. With six children there has to be some rules... sounds like you need a drill sergeant to manage a crowd.

  4. Hank, good parents? I love your picture.
We have a mother black Muscovy duck hen who has made a nest in the neighbor across the street's upstairs window box, she sits there at night and is in our front yard shade until noon. The afternoons she sits in the neighbor's yard where there is afternoon shade.

    1. I've posted about her on my other blog and written a poem on the poetry one.

    2. Hank checked out your Muscovy Duck hen, Dr Jim. It's just fascinating! It appears to be extra intelligent to choose a shaded nesting place the way she did. It was made easier though that both you and your neighbour are 'humanly' kind enough to allow her the liberty to move freely between your two houses. Thanks for sharing, Sir!

  5. There must be rules, or chaos reigns. Great take on the prompt!
