Apparently, you're the planet's only natural satellite. You maintain a
rotation with Mother Earth so that we can only see the same side of
you. It is beautiful!
Romances accentuating your beauty have commonly alluded to your
stature and they are very unlike the rough surfaces unfairly shown.
during the moon landings - very unflattering to what we have been
used to.
You are being the second-brightest after the Sun but unlike the Sun
you can safely be ogled at by loving couples enamored by your presence.
Most fortunate that you are now given a respite with no more instances
of interruptions of human presence

Frank at d'Verse Haibun Monday - the moon
That's right, we have our sights set on Mars now!
ReplyDeleteWe should fear the Moon above all as one day I tnink she'll want to kiss us or to put it bluntly; she will eventually fall to earth!
ReplyDeleteI really like this, especially how it is written as if to the moon. Lovely words! <3 My favorite line is probably this: "you can safely be ogled at by loving couples enamored by your presence."

Beautiful haibun Hank! :)
Hank, your haibun is entertaining and educating .... two for the price of one. Cheers.
ReplyDeleteThis is just so beautiful, the aesthetics and the strength of the moon, as you describe, are pure.
ReplyDeleteI love the thought that we let the moon be... really she looks a lot better from afar.
ReplyDeleteA haibunic ode to the Moon--Excellent!
ReplyDeleteWe had a beautiful full moon this week here, this poem reminded me of that wonderful sight. well written Hank.
ReplyDeleteYvonne.
It's lovely to imagine the moon keeping vigil over us: You've paid it a fine tribute here.
