percussion band of raw talents

Waiting to be Discovered (here)

setting the mood
for an archaic orchestra of merry-makers
symbolic clanging of cymbals
drumming of drums in little hands
the fun of music makers of old
the percussion band in the early years

laughter spiced to the euphoria
of dancing little feet
tapping in patterned movements
noisily in semblance
of musical experiments
of simple instruments
the percussion band of early years

may nurture future keyboard kingpins
or cellist with double bass leanings
perhaps a flutist with flaming flare-ups
a trumpeter and trombone full blown
never can tell musically inclined
keeping God's gifts under wraps
the percussion band of hidden talents

  1. I like the wordplay in ‘symbolic clanging of cymbals’, the alliteration in ‘keyboard kingpins’ and that your poem is full of sounds and actions, Hank. You got a lot out of that old photograph.

  3. I like the idea of a hidden talent musical group. A good teacher will FIND those. Your group picture reminded of my 6th grade school picture but we only had eight in the school, there were nine kids in yours. The school teacher is in the picture's left. I am the boy in the back row. Four of us were first cousins. https://jimmiehov.blogspot.com/2010/08/flashback-friday-9-what-do-i-remember.html?m=1
