in New Zealand in August 2014 (here)
the 12 given words:
bones, simple clear ripple, heap knows
earth gain knees,bask gigantic throes
PU's Midweek Motif - celebration
Make no bones about it
It is simple and clear
Not just ripples but heaps
Should have known better
For 2018 is already showing signs
Mother Earth due for a depression
No one will expect to gain
Economists had made it all known
Now compounded by the protracted 'recognition'
Previous Presidents had been very tactful
Peace not to be gambled by politicians
May be brought to its knees if not careful
Madness may be basking in silly grandeur
But gigantic conflagration when both equally belligerent
Previous intifadas confined around Gaza area
Now in many parts of the world may be in throes of violence
Cut out all the intended celebrations
Peace not to be won by unilateral decisions
Not just ripples but heaps
Should have known better
For 2018 is already showing signs
Mother Earth due for a depression
No one will expect to gain
Economists had made it all known
Now compounded by the protracted 'recognition'
Previous Presidents had been very tactful
Peace not to be gambled by politicians
May be brought to its knees if not careful
Madness may be basking in silly grandeur
But gigantic conflagration when both equally belligerent
Previous intifadas confined around Gaza area
Now in many parts of the world may be in throes of violence
Cut out all the intended celebrations
Peace not to be won by unilateral decisions
MMT's Sunday's Whirligig #142
There is a lot to fear with the upcoming year and your poem illustrates that succinctly.
ReplyDeleteCheers,
Mark
The world is a worrying place Hank.
ReplyDeleteLet us hope the New Year brings with it commonsense...
Happy Christmas!

Indeed... unilateralism has never brought peace...
ReplyDeleteThe greatest thing to win is peace.
Peace is still elusive with so may things happening around the world.
ReplyDeleteIndeed! The signs are definitely not in favor of Peace. Sigh.
ReplyDeletePeace sure is even farther away with all the stuff that is happening day by day
ReplyDeleteMy hope is for peace too, but like you, I feel pretty helpless.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes for 2018. I have concerns as well.
ReplyDelete"silly grandeur" does not hide the madness, does it? Stopping conflagration will take a miracle beyond what is now possible. I pray with you for a future, a peaceful one.
