C for Cycling in ABC of Sports

Cycling as a sport is most convenient as a light form of exercise outdoors. It can have access of choices of either roads, bike paths or even rural trails. There is no danger of fossil fuel or noise pollution nor traffic congestion. By extension it means less financial cost to the biker and society at large. But on the downside though, it is a fast sports that offers reduced protection in crashes and vulnerable to bad weather conditions

Mountain biking came by in the 1970s. A downhill sport on special cruiser bicycles played on dirt roads trails or specially built parks.

As in most sports these days cycling is no exception. It is not untainted too as in 2012 Armstrong the seven-time winner of the Tour de France was stripped of honors after a doping scandal

  5. How I loved cycling, back in the day. My bike for two had a small child in the seat behind me. Good days.

  6. Ah, cycling....brings back lovely memories. But, those tandem bicycles are harder to ride than they look. I prefer riding alone :-)

  7. I miss riding a bicycle... My half-crippled bones wouldn't be able to stand the possible falls. I might have to try the riding for two bit with my Piano Man. Like that if I fall, I can fall on him. He is very comfortable. ;-D

  11. My wife and I used to have bikes. Don't think she would've wanted one for two - I would've peddled too fast for her.
Shame Armstrong had to do it...

  18. Cycling in tandem would be a good way to check out a future spouse too :) who does how much weight pulling as metaphor for times to come...

Thanks for a lovely read! Polished haibun, and the joy and freedom of cycling very well captured in the image and your write up, enjoyed the entire post.
