The given words:
3WW - intimate jagged thirst
Sunday's Whirligig - method bleached sheep humming
men fool needlework stones country olive dominoes laugh
Not having an intimate knowledge
Jagged in approach
What a thirst!
Is there a method to solve a problem?
Bleached of responsibilities
Shoved or led like sheep
But still humming a tune
Must men just fool themselves
with self denial?
Problem analysis and decision-making
An art form of meticulous needlework
woven into a fabric of factual imagination
Lest they disintegrate one needs to
draw on many known and unknown facts
Rummaging through even eventually
with soiled hands is a must
Leaving stones unturned is sacrilege
Hands-on so they say!
Armed with the potential sting
at the ready
As a wasp guarding her domains
Or a leader over his country
Perhaps an olive branch
waved occasionally to maintain stability
When all relevant elements
are factored in difficulties arising
will not as a consequence make
them fall like dominoes
Triumphant, one has the last laugh!
Happiness written all over
Still easier said than done
But has to be done
Period!

Interesting play with the given words. I see you questioned whether or not this was happiness by the end.
ReplyDeleteA thought-provoking poem, Hank.
ReplyDeleteSadly happiness is seen as being in control rather than pleasing others. We still have be so much to learn and so little time.
ReplyDelete"Problem analysis and decision-making
ReplyDeleteAn art form of meticulous needlework
woven into a fabric of factual imagination".....my favorite lines...
what an intellectual approach, a dissection, of the art of happiness.
ReplyDeleteLoved the word play in this intellectual piece :D
ReplyDelete"Armed with the potential sting
ReplyDeleteat the ready
As a wasp guarding her domains"
luv this image
thanks for dropping in to read mine
much love...
happiness can be as little or as complex as we make it. Sometimes we just have to do it indeed, no matter how much of a pain something is
ReplyDeleteThings do fall like dominoes into place
ReplyDeleteWhat a twisty, windy road to happiness. Well done
ReplyDeleteStrong words do punctuate. the wasp an excellent choice in this. A different form of happiness isnt it - the happiness for the one who topples the king
ReplyDeleteat the end of the day, once happiness is achieved, we are definitely winners
ReplyDeleteOnce a problem is solved, we feel the relief, the joy and happiness of accomplisment. Good thoughts here Hank.
ReplyDelete"Bleached of responsibilities"--what a fantastic line :-)
ReplyDeleteinteresting perspective of 'happiness'. ..aligning all factors to understand a situation based on judgement if ultimately resulting in minimizing the 'domino affect' and this provides joy then this is an accomplishment.
ReplyDeletegracias
This stanza was especially striking/powerful for me...
ReplyDelete"Armed with the potential sting
at the ready
As a wasp guarding her domains
Or a leader over his country
Perhaps an olive branch
waved occasionally to maintain stability"
Thought-provoking write!
love the images you invoke
ReplyDeleteHank,
ReplyDeleteYou have woven quite a few complex considerations into a very neat set of words..Plenty of food for thought and that sense of achievement; thus happiness!!
Eileen
Step by step seems to be the way with many things...nice write Hank!

ReplyDeleteThoughtful and wonderfully penned...
ReplyDeletespectacular in the jagged edges of mind
