Colors and lights full of promise
Minding its stores tenaciously
Bid me a time, for I wish
just seconds to whet my appetite. I’m longing
for the myriads of possibilities.
Serve me the garnish that I may devour
The goodness of being alone
with you as company, as before
I’ve never been a bore
and so are you. Can we just hit it off
from where we left of?
You and your wonderful ways
You and your wonderful ways
Ever so thoughtful of my feelings
and idiosyncrasies.
And me rash and brash but ever so loving.
Young hearts we were but not anymore.
You are just as lovely now as before
Must this happen, I just wonder why
Must this happen, I just wonder why
As on the day you said good-bye!
In places, this reads like a prayer - that invocation-style. "Serve me the garnish that I may desire ..." Very nice!
ReplyDeleteIt's the whining of a love-struck soul, lost in time. It may well be a prayer if the object of love responded.

It's amazing after reading yours and someone else's how different our interpretations can be. Nice write.
ReplyDeleteThanks booguloo! Nice to see you again!

Hank- I just love this:
ReplyDeleteServe me the garnish that I may devour
The goodness of being alone
with you as company
Thanks Laurie!

Look at you rhyming away
ReplyDeleteHere at your bay
Two sides who had to split
Because they just couldn't fit
But now with age
Maybe be able to turn the page
Longings for an old flame
DeleteMakes one feel somewhat lame
It was good when it lasted
Memories can mend the heart
Hank
Excellently done, and so lyrical.
ReplyDeleteYou penned it nicely Pareng Hank... I hearing those lines nowadays in a different form...
ReplyDeleteHave a great week ahead Pare!

Awww... I hate any goodbyes. This pulls at the heart strings.
ReplyDeleteKeep it up, Hank! Good stuff.

Hank, this is filled with sadness. The narrator so regrets the loss, wishes it weren't so, did everything he could. Unfortunately sometimes things don't work out; but hopefully there will be one who will...in time.
ReplyDeleteAn sad episode lingers on Mary! But it brought one nearer to solving life's woes, certainly!

A romantic and sweet write...I like it ~
ReplyDeleteHappy day Hank ~

Thanks Jyoti, always treasure your blog postings. You write your mind that comes from the heart. All are originals without promptings. How nice!

This was sad, and evoked the emotion well. Enjoyed it.
ReplyDeleteevocative hank...the feeling of loss is palpable...and i feel the disbelief in the realizing there was nothing more that could have been done...nice man...
ReplyDeleteThanks Brian! The idea is not to give in or give up. Time has a way of mending!
DeleteHank

I saw only fun and joy in this colourful piece - one that made me think of you actually.
ReplyDeleteCan you figure out why?
Ninot Ma'am,

Hank
Great verse - really great, your best yet.
ReplyDelete"Serve me the garnish that I may devour

Almost a psalm.

Life & its seemingly infinite complications.

I wonder ... this looks very well like a new gospel song or as one other commentary says "a psalm". Wonderfully done. I loved reading this one ... very strong and romantic also.
ReplyDeleteExcellent stuff!
ReplyDeleteAnna :o]
Confession -- I'm rash and brash too bytimes!~
ReplyDeleteI just love this poem, Hank, you are a true fun poetic loving individual!
As I pen this I too am devouring the garnish of being alone. Yet among many in the loving Universe.
And now..... I go to see what I can dream up for YOUR sidebar "Awesome Blogger" button I intend to make appear on my site in the next 30 minutes.
And here I go...
xoox
A fine romantic turn of events - and the not-so-young hearts make the most devoted lovers
ReplyDeleteYour interpretation of the prompt is very different to most, but it's very effective.
ReplyDeleteServe me the garnish that I may devour
ReplyDeletethe goodness of being alone
with you as company,
Now there's a thought! :)
