everyone's up to welcome a new day
but a solitary soul
mind wondering
head groggy
and mind wandering
sliver slithering downwards
at the corner of the mouth
head still spinning
disoriented, disabled discomposed distracted distraught
memory dented
the morning after

Been there. Awesome capture.
ReplyDeleteI.e. a big bad hangover.
ReplyDeleteThe morning after can be horrible! You captured it well, Hank.
ReplyDeleteOye! A time to stay in bed and ignore the rest of the world! Loved the alliteration.
ReplyDeleteThat's what overindulgence gets you.
ReplyDeleteOh, those mornings after...well done.
ReplyDeleteThat last hangover... was my last hangover. Probably 20 years ago now, but still cringe at the memory of them. You've described them well (minus the endless dry heaves and feeling like you've been beaten with a sledgehammer.)
ReplyDeleteAnd we always say "never again"... and it always comes back sooner or later.
ReplyDeleteI like where the prompt took you, Hank!
ReplyDeleteI may or may not have experienced this on one or three occasions...
ReplyDeleteA great write, Hank!
