Image: Hanging her Woes
Away (here)
At the very edge of the forest
Feeling discarded and forgotten
But glad not under undue duress
Contemplating what it had been
Now having seen but all in her mind
There were elements hidden lurking
In the trees perhaps not inclined
Her day had been less menacing
Obscure but peaceful and gracious
The sun-setting rays but intruding
To steal through the branches
An uneventful day to be just aware
Perhaps for the better but still obscure
But not for many others elsewhere
Grappling with conflicts and war

"But glad not under undue duress" that is a magnificent play on words with that image Hank!
ReplyDeleteHank, my read on this is that we each have our own battles to fight. I wish her well (and those others trying to survive a war.)
ReplyDeleteBest wishes for her, Hank. Don't we all wish our woes would go away like hers!!
ReplyDelete..
We chose the same photo, you have woven the elements of nature into this piece naturally. I hope she finds a way to grapple with conflict and war.
ReplyDeleteA really compelling portrait of an uneasy peace.
ReplyDeleteThis is a wonderful poetic puzzle Hank, Loved it.
ReplyDeleteThis opens the mind to ponder the essence of stress Hank. Engaging piece.
ReplyDeleteLove the title, and I feel the poem. Peace is so delicate...You describe it so well.
ReplyDeleteGreatly enjoyed this one, Hank!
