made for Walking (here)
A lot is expected of his being
Stepping into someone's shoes
None to be ashamed of the call
For one is the chosen one
The only concern is whether its
size fits the one who grabbed it
It is heavy on the shoulders should
the realization be unduly ignored
None can be reassured to be comfortable
if the shoes are too big to step into
Many find it daunting and frightfully true
but the wisdom unfortunately comes too late

You went in a great direction with this poem Hank .. stepping into someone else’s shoes can be quite the challenge.
ReplyDeleteSomehow this made me think of Mike Pence and his present attempts to step away from Trump's shoes! No doubt the stories he could tell!
ReplyDeleteFollowing someone who has done great things is always tough.
ReplyDeleteThis catches one unexpectedly: the burden of choice and the pressure to be ready.
ReplyDeleteIt is hard to fill someone else's shoes, that is why it is important to remain true to oneself…if possible…. How are you Hank?
ReplyDeleteMy feet are really big, so stepping into other people's shoes doesn't work so well. Very painful, LOL!
ReplyDeleteYes! Stepping into someone else's shoes! Something we all need to do. We all have things we face that others don't realize or understand. Have a wonderful week Hank. 😊
ReplyDeleteI went in the same direction as you did, Hank. You have expressed it so well.
ReplyDeleteLike Truedessa said. In stepping into shoes, one needs to be true to self, else there is never a good fit.
ReplyDeleteThanks for dropping by my blog
Much love
I love where you went with this picture!
ReplyDeleteWise food for thought. Just like many things, like you said, often seen only in retrospect.
ReplyDeleteNever pretend to be someone else than yourself... but for some it takes a long while to learn.
