blinded not by glaring lights

never had it good
twisting maze in a hood
the day not rightly blasphemous
but sauntering directed by the nose
blinded not by glaring lights
but just ill-prepared for the sights

what is life not given a chance
perhaps a night to recover a balance
boy's night out with the guys
boisterously inclined and alive
never had it so good

a quieter and sane nightly choice
may even be an alternative to rejoice
cuddled in the arms of a loved one
minus the fun

but certainly a life worth living
to counter madness of the mornings

  3. minus the fun! ? The arms of a loved one (as we age) certainly is the wiser choice.

  4. I like this Hank, I lived a protected life before I left home and then I joined in with the big city hood stuff for a while. Even married on, for a while.

  5. It's the quieter nightly choice for me, kiddo.....too tired to do anything else. Smiles.

  6. Vary your diet and vary your activities and you won't go far wrong!

  7. Yes, Hank, while life in the countryside is settling down for the night, city night life is just beginning. You’ve captured the laddish (male and female) swagger well in this poem. Personally, I prefer a cuddle!

  8. Cuddling up sure sounds more fun than getting drunk or the like, guess I'm old.
