Triumphant in his bid
It’s not so much the destination
It’s how one comes through it
The journey spiced off all tractions
One is not totally bruised
Going through life’s path
But one cannot expect to just cruise
Nonchalantly unscathed
Facing life’s challenges
Subjecting one’s resolve to test
May be hell in many instances
And relaying failures are hard to profess
But one laughs it off when all are done
Reflecting how very close it was driven
Mistakes are not material to spoiling all the fun
And eventually splashed across as forgiven
If some dividends
are forthcoming
It’s been life’s risks worth taking

Anything worth doing is worth the risk
ReplyDeletelife i think is the greatest risk....the actual living of it versus just enduring it...its a grand journey...
ReplyDeleteYeah you have to endure and take the risk or nothing will ever change worth changing
ReplyDeleteIt's all too easy to focus on the end and forget to enjoy the process. I find this applies to writing, too. Nice parallel.
ReplyDeleteLife can be a truly great ride. It's guidance that makes a difference. Thanks for a great read.
ReplyDeleteI agree with your sentiment and as it is it is tightly written. You have not told the reader anything new, or said what is old in a different way.>KB
ReplyDeleteHank,
ReplyDeleteThis poem holds much truth..in a journey we face many obstacles..so, I guess we should just try to enjoy the beauty of the ride.
"Mistakes are not material to spoiling all the fun" - so very true, Hank ~ M
ReplyDeleteSo great if one can laugh. You seem like someone with that resilience, Hank. K. (Manicddaily)
ReplyDeletesmiles...the journey of life has its joys and challenges for sure...bruises and all...it's an exciting ride..
ReplyDeleteThe secret is to balance those risks. Great write.
ReplyDeleteYour words are true Hank. Well done!
ReplyDeleteThere is risk in everything we venture off into, Hank. Nice.

I love your outlook, Hank. There is always a risk, and sometimes we risk without considering... and therein lie the biggest lessons, no? The metaphor of the train is a marvelous device for this very "I Regret Nothing" sort of statement. Reminds me of Kipling's "If," except I like yours a lot better. (wink) Amelita
ReplyDeleteLove this. Well done! Really enjoyed.
ReplyDeleteIf some dividends are forthcoming ...........then its the icing on the cake.
ReplyDeleteAmen. Enjoying life's journey and staying On the train!
ReplyDeleteBut one cannot expect to just cruise
ReplyDeleteNonchalantly unscathed
so very true!
Nobody can really escape the pain of living. Joy and sorrow, they go together.
ReplyDeleteLife is a great adventure, worth the risk, worth taking of the limits. Great expression in your poem
ReplyDeleteIt's all worth the risk! Failure is nothing more than the Ego interpreting results as unsatisfactory.
ReplyDeleteRisk, adventure and then destination, just leaves us fulfilled
ReplyDeleteLife is definitely a journey that is short and sweet for some while long and enduring for others. Once we have gotten on the train we hope for a long and wonderful ride, but soon find out that we will hit some bumps that may knock us off our feet, but we also learn that we have to get back up and climb into our seats to enjoy the rest of the ride. Life's journeys are the greatest gift we are given.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing this ride with us for this weeks Theme Thursday. May your train ride be blessed with many friends and loved ones.
God bless.
