They do it all wrong here

I just can’t stand them and I mean them
All of them no exception!
Both those inside as well as those outside
Let’s talk of those inside first

They leave us by ourselves through the night
Nothing happens even in the morning
We see them only in mid-morning
Just a bucket full and they just throw them in
Smelly, dead and cheapest in the market
And they expect us to gobble
all that with relish!
Sheesh!

I like my fish fresh
I like them swimming having fun
I will then catch them with a swipe if small
Or pick them by the tail and
bring them up to the surface

They do it all wrong here
This is what we go through everyday
Having dead fish most of them rotten
by our standards

And we have not even talked about
Those humans on the outside

How we hate the week-ends
That is when they come in droves
And the kids they were cute before
But not anymore

They expect us to get on our back flippers
Clap our fronts and smile
Just for them to take their own selfies
with us in the background

And some even goad us to talk
‘Honk! Oink! ‘ They shout at us
They think it is funny

We only talk when we are happy
Not for some selfish kids for their selfies!
Sheesh!

  3. YES! Dead fish and false dolphin smiles. So far from joy and freedom. You nailed it, Hank.

  4. Yes I had to smile as I could hear them talking, complaining as they should...after all I would not like to be held captive and fed rotten food I did not catch..

  7. Most zoos are demeaning for the animals. Wildlife parks are a little better but even then there is little hope for the inmates to return to the wild, The offspring will go to other zoos. As for stuffed animals in museums, that is really grotesque. Sadly even in natural habitat reserves there is the risk of poaching. Humanity what is it good for? Keep up the shouting!
