like our friendship that they sought

                                                                                      Author: Alice Donovan Rouse
Image: Walking hand in hand
invites both Admiration and Envy (here)

Memories drifted of those who dare
To times long past to times laid bare
We had the inkling I had her praised
Her image so clear I was amazed

For all that I had felt so right
Seeing every move to what were said,
All basking in the moment's limelight
Worked wonders when eyes grew bright

They were not happy seeing truly
Happiness of a couple exhibited freely
We sat silent she'd not said a word
Triumphant of our friendship that they sought

We then walked silently without a word
Amid suspicious darting eyes of sorts
Envious classmates but we let them be
We passed them by in all dignity

They had to live with it

                                                                                                Author: Alpha
Image: Candlelight Dinner - Earth hour (here)

10 of the 12 given words:
flame meek woman seem search
earth creed wind cross time

They enjoyed the candle-light dinner
Amidst the flames of a romantic encounter
Reminiscent of their courting days before

How meek a woman she was then
Allowing him to pick the occasions
right through to the locations

It seemed right in search of perfection
However nothing expensive
but down to earth in determining the choices
adhering to the creed of responsibility
and frugality

How they laughed in between songs
in a  reasonably placed restaurant
Oblivious of the crowd they could see
who even clapped and wished them well
when told it was their anniversary

However the winds of change
came fast and quick
It did not cross their mind to witness

This time there was no crowd
Just the two of them
to enjoy the candle-light dinner...
at home

They had to live with it
Business were down compounded
with aspects post-pandemic

They were late in payments
for their utilities and loans
They prayed it would not linger on
for far too long
Otherwise it would still
be candle-light dinner
But imposed unto them when supplies
were disconnected for non-payment
Unlike before no more on the roll
They would have to rise to the occasion
While things were still under control

‘where every song must end’

                                                                                    Author: Sarah Whiley
Image:  Light at the end of the Lane (here)

youth and age at opposite ends
surviving with true grit
of the untested and young
balanced by the spirit of the experienced
moments shared glory enhanced
while pain endured

raw nerves employed
of activities physical in nature
pulsing at the fast rate
of adrenalin flow of the young

matched by the aged
afflicted with chronic diseases
sometimes dying but ever willing to act
like the healthy being
stalking with a pure heart
extending a wealth of kindness
to those blessed

mankind is not conveniently divided
for the void in between
may well be transient
filled by elements prone
to good intentions
but the parasites of society
are reflected in ills of human failings

the dusk of the day brings to a finality
failings to hide in the darkness of nights
to commence on the morrow
their nefarious ventures unless and until
restrained by the arms of the law.

only then will humanity be spared
though invariably sufferings of the deprived
would still be sustained for another day
.
poetic justice will ultimately triumph as
Providence is a fair Equalizer
ultimately light at the end of the tunnel
will sparkle brightly where
at the end of the lane
‘every song must end’

Act nice and prim

                                                                                        Author: Ronald Saunders
Image:  The Good Times Together Again (here)

All those moments will be lost in time,
like tears in rain” -Roy Batty, Blade Runner

Get on with it man, do your job
Bring out the big wrench
Hurry with it man you are no flop
You’ve shown your good sense
You’ve been at it for a long while
No muddle no fumble
You’ve been good with your guiles
And don’t stumble.... What?
The cog and wheels’ on the ground
Who could have done that!
With whom did you last have a spat

You have got to be aware
And always be prepared
Rivals can be nasty
They can play dirty
Your efforts may end up in tatters
It will make matters a lot worse

Ok, not to even things
Act nice and prim
All those moments will be lost in time
like tears in rain
Always seek and procure
Go with the rules and procedure
Like shoes with proper laces
Things will rightly fall in place

For Providence is an equalizer

Captivatingly!

                                                                   Artist: Leonardo da Vinci  (1452–1519)
Image: Mona's Enigmatic Smile (here)

yearnings to find
what could be so specific
on the natural inquisitive mind
that a Mona wannabe could speak

all of the thoughts and guiles
the magic of da Vinci
that one succumbed just to a smile
under the spell of a mortal's ingenuity

An idea in making heads turn

                                                                                           Author: anon
Image: Pin on Pretty in Pearls  (here)

Clouds the mind bidding for a home run
The naked truth is still not very apparent
Idea in making heads turn that is the fun
Such are pretty ladies with assets to flaunt

Making waves in calm waters to provoke
Pearls entwined for roving eyes of suitors
Flirting with glee twitch of the eyes to invoke
Flurry of male response with age-old wishes

The ladies will always have the upper hand
Not much efforts to lure the unsuspecting lot
Relying on the weaker sex's hidden strengths
Talk is cheap male ego rocks to the onslaught

symbolic of the fallen heroics

                                                                                      Author: Bengt Nyman
Image: Accepted and Not Ostracized  (here)

visually attractive akin to a
hibiscus and just as beautiful
poppy a flower revered but sadly
on the wrong side of the law

society regretted for making it
symbolic of the heroics of soldiers
fallen in battle before the scourge
of the drug scene became a menace

its derivative the heroin instilled
fear on friend and adversary alike
those deaden unto skeletal frames
to eventually fade away after
clawing ruefully back for a few fix
only the few chosen made it back
successful only after a struggle in rehab

the great many others fail to make it
a futile attempt of no-return an affront
to the human race in its bid to elicit
some dignity still left for those forever
wanting for their daily fix instead
and they chose to remain irrelevant

fix your gaze to aspire for success

                                                                                              Author: Jannes Pockele
Image:  A Loving Couple (here)

when chips are down breathe easy
fix your gaze to aspire for success
drawn back a few notches easily
a distraction of confusion and duress

the beast in us that plays the devil
which negates the positive show of efforts
playful and non-committal are twin evils
in the light of days spent in comfort

success is a function of time and money
twin elements that spell happiness
an epitome of honour that begets glory
planned and implemented to harness
the fruits of labor so desirous to one’s heart
not equitable to attention but the best
tools of the trade and desire are poles apart
resolve stunted by pain of failure nonetheless
