Amazing instincts
Annual journey upriver
Sustenance of life

Pink slices offered
Held its own for all seasons
Gift of the moment!

Note: Most understand sake to mean a Japanese rice wine drink.
But sake is also Japanese name for salmon

  1. it is a gift...a rather tasty one...so fascinating they make such a journey...far from that place and then return each year...giving their life often so that the next generation can be born...

  3. Love the taste of salmon... and eating it raw is just great... the wandering is amazing. Pity that wild salmon is so full of mercury etc so you should avoid it (at least the Baltic salmon)...
