Amazing instincts
Annual journey upriver
Sustenance of life

Pink slices offered
Held its own for all seasons
Gift of the moment!

Note: Most understand sake to mean a Japanese rice wine drink.
But sake is also Japanese name for salmon

Written for Chev's CARPE DIEM #308 on sake (salmon)

  1. it is a gift...a rather tasty fascinating they make such a journey...far from that place and then return each their life often so that the next generation can be born...

  2. Never knew that at my mat, not a big fan of fish though

  3. Love the taste of salmon... and eating it raw is just great... the wandering is amazing. Pity that wild salmon is so full of mercury etc so you should avoid it (at least the Baltic salmon)...

  4. amazing instincts indeed... and i love both...sake and salmon..

  5. Yummy ~ We try to eat fish (salmon) at least once a week ~

  6. Isn't it wonderful ... animal instinct?

  7. Raw salmon taken with wasabe in light soy sauce is simply wonderful.
