First

First, before the crowd
Fulfills an obligation
A sense of success

A motivation
First on Brian’s or Pat’s
Mary beats them all

Gold silver and bronze
Brian swept them all before, but
Mary just took ‘one’

But some got on first
Did not realize others are
Lurking in the wings

Written for Haiku Heights # 153 with prompt - first-

Yes, you're first. The 3 wonderful people have been neck-to-neck. It's fun to be in the fray wherever possible.

    TIGER
Yes, in reference to Brian who was a few times 1st 2nd 3rd at Pat's

    Thanks Ma'am

Haiku is fun. No rhyming and just one 5-7-5 is acceptable. Will join in whenever possible. Thanks Ma'am!

  9. Ah, Hank, this makes me smile. It does seem, doesn't it, that some of us have a light-hearted competition. I am seldom first at Pat's site; often first at Brian's. But what is important, I think, is that we support one another and visit one another and encourage one another. More important than who is first...but I admit it IS fun to be first.

  10. You are spot on, Ma'am! I would be extremely happy if I get to be first! I'm lurking in the background. Whenever Brian's or Pat's posting appears at my bloglist I would quickly check. Lately I've missed by a whisker a few times. At the same time I'm happy as friendly people got on earlier. Yes, it's fun, certainly! Thank you Mary!

Thank you! Will check it out!

It's a provocation! Pat somehow gets away with lots of things. It keeps things alive that's for sure. Thanks!
