I cannot have you
I cannot touch you
The most I can see
Are two reflections
How cruel fate can be
Can I be set free?
I can see you in my reflections
I can see you in my dreams
I can see you everywhere
But my choices are limited
My yearnings are beyond reach
My emotions are beyond reasons
My wants are beyond redemption
I’m vulnerable
Help!
Save me!
Sentimental me.

Wants that one can not have
ReplyDeleteAre indeed grave
But one should look at what they do
And not get in a stew
I had the same thoughts...SAVE ME!!!! excellent!
ReplyDeletesometimes not being able to get what you think you want - does save you
ReplyDeleteGreat...amazing the different views we each see in the same photo.
ReplyDelete... a lesson which is hard to learn. We don't always get what we wish for...

ReplyDeleteGreat writing Hank!
We all have a bit of that.. I think its good to reflect, indulge it for a bit, but move on ~
ReplyDeleteI guess when we think about it, reflections in mirrors are illusions.
ReplyDeleteI can relate to the vulnerability here...nice write...
ReplyDeleteWe all have that cry for help, don't we? Good poem.
ReplyDeletei feel you in this man...to see but not touch is a tough place to be...and sometimes perhaps that is the best you know...
ReplyDeleteHank, sometimes what we want isn't always best for us. I like this a lot.

Careful what you wish for; as you know you may get it. :-)

It's often what we can't have that we desire the most...until we get it, then it might not be that great! Nice write.
ReplyDeleteWe all desire that what we cannot have. reaching out to him or her, your secret lover. Seeing him or her everywhere ... and in your mirror he or she reflects as a silent admirer.
ReplyDeleteGreat poem, loved reading it.
I agree with Kathe!

ReplyDeleteHi Hank--caught in the glass--I keep thinking of Jean Cocteau--Where they go in and out of the mirror with the gloves--Orfee--K.

ReplyDeleteI like the emotion in this.
ReplyDeleteOoh this is so true about our relationships with ourselves. We have to settle with the reflection in the mirror.
