Like the jungle animals in a survival mode - a Haibun

the 11 of 12 given words:
precise delirious forge shudder
pneumatic (operated by air or by the pressure of air)
skulk (to move in a stealthy manner)
lavation (the process of washing)
ration denote uniform terrible

City folks are a mixed bag. Many are focused on the rat race, precise
and delirious forging a rigid schedule in work ethics. One shudders to
think of their extent of commitment, and pneumatic sense of purpose
in pushing themselves to the extremes. At the other end of the spectrum
are displaced souls skulking in dark corners devoid of lavation who
painstakingly ration out meager takes to last the day. In between are the
larger group of middle-class folks unsuspecting of others not unduly
bothersome and happy to denote a uniformed lifestyle. These creatures
in the concrete jungle move around very much like the jungle animals
in a survival mode. They are predators in business preying on the
uninformed consumers who may get into terrible skirmishes with them
in the face of fight-backs. The make-up of society will find its own
equilibrium to weave a fabric of order

set in motion by
society's insistence that
life finds its own paths

  3. I like the way you've focused on people, Hank. A different take on the cityscape with the contrast of those 'focused on the rat race' and the 'displaced souls skulking in dark corners devoid of lavation who painstakingly ration out meager takes to last the day.' And the haiku is so true.

  5. You had me at the opening line. No doubt there are several different types of individuals which prowl the city streets. Each has its own agenda as the "The make-up of society will find its own equilibrium to weave a fabric of order" Beautifully executed.

    Lots of love,

  7. "These creatures in the concrete jungle move around very much like the jungle animals in a survival mode." A very apt comparison

  8. Sometimes I think the wordle challenges becomes a little forced, but this time it works so well.. the people and concrete in symbiosis almost.

  9. city folks.........those that make up the concrete jungle. Good take on the prompt. Someone else wrote about the "commuters' rhythm" --
that relates to the "uniformed lifestyle." Nice take on the prompt here!

  10. Although Wordles can be forced, you did an excellent job with this, meshing two prompts as well. I enjoyed your take on the different type of jungle animals vs.people.

  11. Perhaps one of the reasons I avoid the city is that sense of predation that seems to infuse the streets. It makes me wonder if we've evolved much at all--or if we are devolving.

  12. The success of the city results in these different breeds of jungle animals. "Progress" creates status levels and gaps in the system, leaving many behind, foraging for the scraps.

  13. Good work with your two prompts. The struggle is real in the fight for survival and too many fall through the cracks. The concrete jungle is a tough place to be.
