Flying

Gliding gracefully
Flying high within the clouds
Satiated feel

Bird’s right to be free
Natural phenomena
But some all caged up

Same injustice is
also inflicted by man
against fellow men

  2. The first is my favorite as is is absolute freedom.
I suppose that makes the other two inevitable.

  3. There's a circularity here that does, as Susan says, seem inevitable.

  5. true man....we do limit one another taking away their ability to fly, and i am not thinking of jail but...

  6. Yes, true, absolutely true. For what it's worth, I think the first stanza(?) far superior to the following two.

  7. Be fun to actually fly, up in the sky. But yeah clipping somes wings seems to come all to soon, knocking them down to a baboon.

  10. YES! Last night I watched Land of Blood and Honey about the war in Sarajevo - very realistic look at the horrors of war and what it does to civilians as well as soldiers. Your poem makes me think of all of this. I hate cages on principle, for critters and for humans. Good one, Hank.

  11. poetically, I like the first best, but the entire set has much merit - I am very verbal in my opinion of caging anything....Pet stores make me cry, and prisons only encourage rage.....

  12. Wow, I especially enjoyed the first but the set has great merit as a whole poem. Many levels of freedom or lack expressed here. Good work.

  18. Nice haiku message about the right to freedom, both for men and animals. My favorite one is the first.

  19. imposed limitations. I think that is why when we see nature like this, we are often spellbound.

  20. Love the message. Unfortunately some people are good at clipping other people's wings either for their own selfish reasons or just plain wickedness/jealousy. I believe in an individual's basic need to be free (when they are not in prison).
