Cherry Blossom

A fleeting moment
to be savored. All good things
are not permanent

Waves of white herald
beauty in fragility
faithfully in time

Cherry blossom white
Spectacle of joy fulfils
an annual yearning

Written for Chev's haiku at CARPE DIEM #33 the cool rain. Shared with Kerry's at Real Toad's Open Link Monday

    1. So true too, such moments will never last, so when in view take them in before they are past.

  3. So very nice, Hank. It reminds me of the year I moved to Texas. It was in March and in Washington, D.C, the cherry trees were blossoming like I had never seen before or after. There are not a lot of Cherry trees in New Hampshire where I moved from and NONE in our part of Texas.

  5. Your poem reminded me of the song 'Cherry Pink and Apple Blossom White' ~~ from eons ago, kind of a mambo thing we used to swing and sway to!!!!

  6. Good things may not be permanent, but neither are bad things. All is transitory...

  9. Oh, Hank, it's so true. Some of the most beautiful things in nature (cocoons to budding trees to full-blown blossoms that will soon fade) are transitory. We must learn to stop and appreciate them, not simply walk by and take these miracles for granted.

I mean, I brake for toads! Amy

  14. It is so sad that cherry blossom is so fleeting but how wonderful it is while it lasts.
