Life Savings Methods
Bronze medallion
Holger Nielson push and pull
Life savings of old
Resuscitation
CPR, a kiss of life
Hail a new method
Life saved life secured
But scrounge of human failings
Danger of the AIDS
Lethal without cure
High risks, likely infection

What was once given freely, now in a paranoid world, withheld out of fear. Somehow, I believe you'd risk yourself to help another in danger--again, even now. Well written! G.

Have been certified also for years... have used the first aid way more than the CPR, but truly the best kiss in the world when the timing is right.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful poem. It reminds me where you need to spit when you suck out poison from a snake bite. Unrelated, but maybe just a little, I know.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Nanka.. Bold take for kiss :) Like it.
ReplyDeleteLoved your creativity in the line "CPR, a kiss of life" :) :)
ReplyDeleteThat is awesome to think about... I'm just a lay swimmer and don't know anything about approaching a drowning victim in the water. It's like two worlds colliding: on one hand you want to do everything you possibly can to help him, but on the other hand you must be mindful that he could drown you in an effort to stay afloat. And now with added fears of incurable diseases it is increasingly difficult for those who spend their lives in the effort of helping others. I never really thought about the complexity of that until I read your story. Incredibly touching. It sounds as though your medal served you well, and I'm glad you have such wonderful memories that you worded so beautifully in your haikus.
