Hippos,Piranha and Crocs

Illuminating
Life forms cavorting below
Serene and peaceful

Idyllic and calm
Solidarity engaged
Luxuriant stillness

Unsuspecting souls
Be mindful murky waters
Danger lurks beneath

Toppling hippo backs
Gnashing sharp teeth,snapping jaws
Macabre carnage

  4. The Newberys have spent 300 million years extricating themselves from the water. I feel no desire to return to visit the relatives. Less after your poem.

  5. Another reason the cat stays on land, he does not want to give any of those a hand. At filling their gut with my little rhyming butt.

  9. Yes, Hank, beware they are lurking everywhere we go. Dense images, and powerful.

  10. I didn't read the title, so the hippo came as a surprise, Hank. I was happily thinking about the "luxuriant stillness"!
Good one. For some reason, I was unable to respond to this prompt.

  11. Lot's of danger beneath those dark, still depths. Love the play of imagery, the language (always!) and yes...the surprise ending!
