the 12 given words:
owls bough villain strike sodden swagger stained
cowslip (a European primula with clusters of drooping fragrant yellow flowers)
musk (a strong-smelling reddish-brown substance that is secreted by the male musk deer)
tinctured (be tinged with a slight amount of dye or pigment|)
viol (a musical instrument of the Renaissance held vertically and played with a bow)
distills (extract the essential meaning or most important aspects of)

the wise owls perched on the boughs
neither a villain nor a hero but striking a posture
very much like the yellow flowers of the cowslip
sodden with knowledge

there was not a swagger of arrogance
or stained with any strong smelling musk
but just tinctured with a mild whiff of
a soothing viol musical strain

owls in their own quiet ways as
pictured normally, appeared able to
distill information to invoke the
propensity of enquiry to maximize
their ability to comprehend
and to that of data storage

  1. A great verse Hank, this took me back when living in Spain I went on a Mountain cable car to the Mijas Mountains, I had a fear of birds but actually held an owl. Thanks for the verse and my memories.
