of fragrance in sudden whiffs

Inspired by lyrics of Tears In Heaven
sung by Eric Clapton
Beyond the door
There's peace, I'm sure
And I know there'll be no more
Tears in heaven
strolling hand in hand
leisurely without a care
a world ours not to offend
but mindful to be aware

of fragrance in sudden whiffs
that many are constrained
to unwittingly miss
but for a moment be restrained

stop to smell the roses
of nature's gift to young lovers
to wantonly disregard boasts
of grandiose endeavors

  3. "..but for a moment be restrained..." what a wonderful phrase to describe the way the scent of a rose can stop us in our tracks :D XXX

  5. The constraints of time and the endeavors of being human puts such a limit on how deeply and fully we can love this life, I think.

Beautiful poem, Hank. Love that song, too.

  11. I don't know why but the title made me chuckle - a sense of carefreeness which can't be beaten!

  12. Indeed! We would miss our own selves if we don't use our wits for good, for enjoying the wee moments that make life worth living. ♥

  15. With all our senses you would think we would be happy with this beautiful world. We have ability to be creative which sadly we use that selfishly ignoring the beauty all around us. Just as well there are poets to write about it Hank.
