Less concerned of the split on his head

the 12 given words:
break less split cover howling draw
lost food maps rear still move

Exhausted he decided to take a break
Less concerned of the split on his head
There was blood that oozed out freely
Took cover at the buttress of a big tree

Darkness approached night was falling
Concerned more of a distant wolf howling

Desperate with the engine spluttering
It took a dive instead and kept falling
Tried to draw the controls backwards
Lost the gamble the last he remembered

No food nor maps his rear was aching
Was still breathing when they found him
Head hideously caked with dried blood
Gently moved no wallowing in the mud

Note: True event of a light-aircraft
pilot who miraculously survived
a crash a long time ago. The plane
landed on the jungle tree-tops and
he was flung out onto branches and
thick foliage with no serious injuries
