daffodils with colours so bold,

                                                                                 Author: John O'Neill
Image: Yellow daffodils (here)

Yellowness, being all yellowness,
A shade that brings such happiness,
It's bright and warm, like the sun above,
And brings to bear a feeling of love.

Golden fields of wheat and grain,
Swaying gently in the summer rain,
Dandelions dancing in the breeze,
Yellow petals a sight to please.

The autumn leaves, so crisp and bright,
Their yellow hues a gorgeous sight,
As they fall gently to the ground,
A blanket of yellow all abound.

There's daffodils with colours so bold,
A sight to cherish, a story to be told,
It brings us joy, it brings us light,
A hue so pure, so warm, so bright

Encircled within danger and strife,
We sought a way to safeguard our life,
And so we invented a device of safety,
To protect ourselves from harm and injury.

With clever design and secure creation
We built a fountain of protection,
A brass pocket-sized invention so tiny
It adorned our life with impunity

It was a shield against debt and power
And guarded us from all kinds of danger
With its clever features and secure lock,
It was a dependable aid around the clock.

So let us celebrate this clever creation,
For it brings us peace and satisfaction,
And with its help, we can walk tall,
Knowing we're rendered safe from all

"The seed of a poem lay dormant in my heart.” ~ Valsa George
from “Winged Words”

I felt it in my chest. as though it had been planted deep in me.
The seed of a poem lay dormant in my heart, waiting for the right moment
to sprout out. I could feel it, swirling beneath the surface. They were raw
yet full of promise. I needed to nurture them carefully, tending to them like
a child until they were ready to burst out from slumber

And so I sat there, pen in hand, letting the words flow  through me. They
were halting at first, hesitant and uncertain, but they gained strength and
momentum. Soon, they had taken on a life of their own, tumbling out of
me like a flood.

Eventually,  I was left with a poem, something that had been waiting
patiently inside me. The seed of a poem that had lain dormant in my
heart had finally emerged.

Likable Homer Simpson
A man of simple joys and simple ways
A donut in his hand, a beer in the other
His mind on nothing but leisurely days

With his family by his side
He finds himself in wacky situations
But his love for Marge and his kids
Keeps him going through life's complications

He's not the sharpest tool in the shed
But he has a heart of gold
And when it comes to having fun
Homer Simpson is never too old

Whether he's at Moe's Tavern
Or working at the nuclear plant
Homer always finds a way
To make us laugh and rant

So here's to Homer Simpson
A character we all adore
May he never stop being himself
And always leave us wanting more.

Small victories, how very sweet,
Moments of triumph how very neat,
A smile, a laugh, a gentle sigh,
A nice feeling that we cannot deny.

It may be a day without any pain,
Or a task anticipated with lots of gain
A hug from a friend, a kind word,
The sound of a song from a singing bird.

It's the little things that make life great,
The moments we do not regret
A hand to hold, a loving kiss,
The joy of such an innocent bliss.

Small victories, they come and go,
But they fill our hearts with a special glow,
They remind us that life is worth the flight
To experience happiness is within our right

E for Echidna - Knuckles the Echidna

Accompanying Notes:  Knuckles the Echidna is a character from Sonic the Hedgehog series. He is an anthropomorphic short-beaked echidna - Wikipedia

They are very different to a porcupine – porcupines are actually rodents whereas the echidna is an ancient type of marsupial. Additionally, echidna cannot eject their spines, whereas a porcupine can. Echidnas are found all over Australia, including Tasmania

In Greek mythology, Echidna was a monster, half-woman and half-snake, who lived alone in a cave. She was the mate of the fearsome monster Typhon and was the mother of many of the most famous monsters of Greek myth  -  Wikipedia

Deep in the heart of Angel Island,
Where danger lurks and foes abound,
There lives a guardian, strong and valiant,
With knuckles hard and senses profound

He is an Echidna named Knuckles
Protector of the Master Emerald,
He watches over it with keen spectacle
Defending it as it had gone viral

He roams the island, always vigilant,
His fists at the ready, his heart stout,
With his determination, he's valiant
And his enemies fear his powerful clout.

But there's more to Knuckles than just
For he's also wise and kind of heart,
A true friend to those he trusts,
Regrettable to those who disregard

So if you ever venture to Angel Island,
Beware of Knuckles, the Echidna's might,
For he'll protect the Master Emerald,
With all his strength and all his might.

B for Beavis and Butt-Head
Today: Animated MTV series about two teenage
heavy-metal music fans who occasionally do idiotic
things because they're bored

In a town called Highland, there lived two dudes,
Beavis and Butt-Head, known for their crude moods.

They watched music videos and made fun of the bands,
Laughing and snickering, with remote in their hands.

Heads hard as rocks, and their thinking not too bright,
But they had each other, and that was all right.

They loved to cause trouble and annoy everyone,
From neighbour Tom Anderson to their teacher Mrs. Donovan.

Their favorite word was "heh heh," and they used it a lot,
Even when not funny, they still thought they were hot.

Dreamed of lots of  girl-friends and getting rich quick,
But their plans always failed, and they ended up sick.

Yet they never gave up, and they kept on trying,
To be cool and popular, even if it meant lying.

So if you see Beavis and Butt-Head walking your way,
Just ignore them and go about your day.

For they may be funny, but they're not very smart,
And hanging out with them is not a good start.

A  for Anthropomorphic Animals

Anthropomorphism is the giving of human characteristics to non-human entities,
This can include giving human-like qualities such as intelligence, consciousness
or even speech to non-human entities.

It is often used in literature to create characters having human tendencies
Many cartoons feature anthropomorphic animals as main characters, such
as Bugs Bunny or Mickey Mouse.

It creates a sense of realness that invokes the imagination especially on young
children. It puts the child within the context of the situation. It draws their interest
so that they can feel being part of the story. It enhances the imagination into
play-acting particularly good for mental development

With a mouth that speaks in poetry,

Something spectacular in all probability
Take a step down this path with me,
And let's explore what we can see,

But don't turn your back just yet,
For there's a button to be felt
Worthy of a mistress so charismatic,

“In space in time I sit thousands of feet above the sea”May Sarton

The moon had inspired many with its inherent beauty.
No one disputed that with the owl even pining and no
dearth of poets with their writings. But when man landed
on the moon it was rocky and dusty.

The same could be said of mountains bluish and greenish
in the distance. It is rugged and not expected to be overly
friendly. I can well imagine in space in time I sit thousands
of feet above the sea
looking down the treacherous gullies.
Mountain climbing is rightly the privilege of the dare-devils.

Climbers on Everest apparently made a solemn pledge that
upon returning no word to divulge as to their privilege.
Remains of earlier climbers strewn in the snow are not to
be made known to folks waiting below.

When asked 'climbing the mountain was it a dare?'  'Yes,
they replied, 'because it is there!'

cry storm steep strange devious

lost in the morning darkness
at the height of the receding January snow
slow in the likes of life's misgivings

faithless in extending the hand of friendship
at the doorstep of pensive thoughts
a far cry from the obvious stance of innocence
disappointment, despair, and despondency
of a people staring at the storm brewing

the will to look for bread and salvation
the will to just taste the steep climb
to luxury and of not being hungry
but the will to survive

what stops one from foraging
from deceit and from deceiving others

just to let a child have bread
when all around are the machinations of war
devised and perpetrated by fellow men
to prevent other fellow men women and child
from wanting and getting their bread

it is strange for the weak are made to suffer
it is devious for the strong to grab everything
are they blind to the fact that
it is a zero-sum game
for whatever one takes
the other has to sacrifice
